The Tonga Office of the Auditor General (TOAG) successfully held the Performance Audit Fundamentals Workshop in Nuku’alofa from 22–26 September 2025.
The intensive, practical training was delivered through close collaboration between TOAG, the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI), and the Australian Government’s Kafa-Taha Governance Partnership with Tonga.
Led by PASAI trainers Mike Scott and Craig Neil, the workshop aimed to strengthen the skills and capabilities of Tonga’s audit professionals in conducting high-quality performance audits. Participants received hands-on training in key areas such as audit planning, evidence collection and analysis, developing findings, reporting, and effective stakeholder engagement.
TOAG acknowledges and appreciates the ongoing partnership and support from PASAI and the Australian Government. During the opening, Acting Australian Deputy High Commissioner Alison Gow reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to promoting good governance in Tonga through capacity development, twinning arrangements, and targeted technical support.
TOAG remains committed to building a capable, skilled, and professional audit workforce equipped to deliver performance audits that add value and strengthen public accountability across the Kingdom.
